Kettlebell Goblet Squat
The kettlebell goblet squat is a front-loaded squat holding a bell by the horns at your chest. It works your quads and glutes, with your abs keeping you upright. Pick it to learn squat depth and posture, or as a knee-friendly quad builder when a barbell is overkill.
Muscles worked
The kettlebell goblet squat trains the quadriceps and glutes, with abs helping.

Weekly sets for quadriceps
Hard sets per week that Swole.fit plans for quadriceps, counting every exercise that trains it. Start a cycle near the growth line and climb toward the recovery limit before a deload.
How to do the kettlebell goblet squat
- 01Hold the bell by the horns at chest height, elbows pointing down and close to your body.
- 02Stand with feet about shoulder width apart and toes turned out slightly.
- 03Brace your abs, then sit down between your heels, keeping your chest tall and the bell close.
- 04Descend until your elbows reach the inside of your knees or you hit your comfortable depth.
- 05Drive through your whole foot to stand, finishing with hips and knees fully extended.
Coaching cues
- Elbows down, chest up
- Sit between your heels
- Push the floor away
Common mistakes
- Letting the bell drift away from your chest pulls you forward, so keep it pinned close throughout the rep.
- Knees caving inward reduces stability, so push them out over your toes as you descend and rise.
- Rising onto your toes shifts the load forward, so keep your heels down and pressure through the midfoot.
How Swole.fit programs it
Log it once and the app plans the next session for you.
- Most sets land between 8 and 15 reps, the range the plan steers compound lifts toward for size.
- Week one starts around 2 to 3 reps in reserve. Each week you train a little closer to failure, ending around 0 to 1 in reserve before a deload week.
- Hit the top of the range on every set and the next session adds the smallest real jump in weight, rounded to the plates, dumbbells or stack you actually have.
- Sets for this exercise count toward your weekly volume for every muscle it trains: a full set for the primary muscles, half a set for the helpers.
The full method, with the maths, is in how mesocycles work.
