Jump Squats
The jump squat is a squat where you explode upward into a jump, then land softly into the next rep. It trains your quads and glutes, with your hamstrings and calves helping to produce and absorb force. Pick it to build power and conditioning. Land quietly, and stop the set when your jumps get lower or sloppy.

Weekly sets for quadriceps
Hard sets per week that Swole.fit plans for quadriceps, counting every exercise that trains it. Start a cycle near the growth line and climb toward the recovery limit before a deload.
How to do the jump squats
- 01Stand with your feet about hip to shoulder width apart and swing your arms back as you dip into a quarter to half squat.
- 02Drive hard through your feet, extending your hips, knees and ankles together as you swing your arms up.
- 03Leave the floor and keep your body tall and straight in the air.
- 04Land softly on the balls of your feet, then roll to your whole foot as your hips and knees bend.
- 05Absorb the landing into your next squat and repeat once you feel balanced.
Coaching cues
- Explode up, land like a cat
- Arms swing to drive the jump
- Knees track over your toes on landing
Common mistakes
- Landing stiff-legged with a loud thud jars your joints; bend your hips and knees to absorb every landing quietly.
- Letting your knees collapse inward on the landing is a common fault; push them out over your toes as you absorb.
- Grinding out tired, low jumps turns power work into sloppy cardio; end the set when jump height drops noticeably.
How Swole.fit programs it
Log it once and the app plans the next session for you.
- Most sets land between 8 and 15 reps, the range the plan steers compound lifts toward for size.
- Week one starts around 2 to 3 reps in reserve. Each week you train a little closer to failure, ending around 0 to 1 in reserve before a deload week.
- Once the top of the range is easy, Swole.fit suggests a harder variation or added load.
- Sets for this exercise count toward your weekly volume for every muscle it trains: a full set for the primary muscles, half a set for the helpers.
The full method, with the maths, is in how mesocycles work.
