High Cable Crossover
The high cable crossover is a chest isolation exercise with the pulleys set high, so you pull the handles down and across toward your hips. The downward path favours the lower, sternal fibres of the chest. Choose it over the standard crossover when you want to bias the lower chest, the area dips also hit.

Weekly sets for chest
Hard sets per week that Swole.fit plans for chest, counting every exercise that trains it. Start a cycle near the growth line and climb toward the recovery limit before a deload.
How to do the high cable crossover
- 01Set both pulleys at the top of the column and attach a D-handle to each.
- 02Grab the handles, step forward into a split stance and lean your torso slightly over your front foot.
- 03Start with arms out wide and high, elbows softly bent and palms facing forward or down.
- 04Pull the handles down and inward in an arc until your hands meet around belly-button height.
- 05Squeeze your chest at the bottom, then let your arms rise back up and out slowly.
Coaching cues
- Drive hands down toward your front pocket
- Stay tall through the chest as you pull
- Slow on the way back up
Common mistakes
- Hunching your upper back at the bottom rolls the shoulders forward, so keep your chest up while your hands come together.
- Pulling straight down like a pushdown makes it a triceps exercise, so keep the elbow bend fixed and sweep in an arc.
- Leaning so far forward that your bodyweight pulls the cables cheats the chest, so use a slight lean and a lighter stack.
How Swole.fit programs it
Log it once and the app plans the next session for you.
- Most sets land between 8 and 15 reps, the range the plan steers isolation work toward for size.
- Week one starts around 2 to 3 reps in reserve. Each week you train a little closer to failure, ending around 0 to 1 in reserve before a deload week.
- Hit the top of the range on every set and the next session adds the smallest real jump in weight, rounded to the plates, dumbbells or stack you actually have.
- Sets for this exercise count toward your weekly volume for every muscle it trains: a full set for the primary muscles, half a set for the helpers.
